finished double page spread

This is the final draft of my double page spread for my music magazine, i followed the planning of it by keeping the photos of AVENUE in the same positions as i planned and postioned them around the text interview. i also kept with consitency of colour and have the pink background again and the blue, pink and yellow font. I wanted the interview to be appealing so i created an interview asking various questions about there love life, music and friends and family. i wanted to create a life like interview and make it seem as real as possible, from researching other music magazines, and reading the type of interviews that appear in real music magazine it influenced what i would include in mine and the type of questions i would ask.

After creating all of my magazine on InDesign it was much harder than i thought, the software was very complicated, and it was confusing to access the tools, and put everything where you wanted it to go. if i could change i would fill up the empty spaces and fill all the gaps, i would take more photos of the my music star and would consider having a solo star to focus on as it would be easier to take photos and i could include more detail on them. i wouldnt change my name of the magazine or the colour scheme as i believe they work well together.

finished contents page

this is the final draft of my contents page, i followed through with the planning and research and also kept with the consistency of colours, as my orginal colour scheme was pink, blue and yellow and the main colours that feature are them 3 colours. i also believe that it reflects my target audience of young girls and teenagers and its bright, happy and girly with all the bright colours and fun fonts. Iv also shown the title of the magazine 'BUZZ' in the same large font and different shades of blue as that would be the trademark title for my magazine and the audience would recognise it and it stands out and it would be familaur and more readers would know my magazine. iv also added another music star Keisha (Kesha) to add more appeal and it would attract more readers and would interest more people, the magazine mentions 'Kesha Exposed' this would jump out to readers and would make them want to read on and see what has happened, as 'exposed' could mean many things, it doesnt give out to much information and it would widen the range of people that would be interested in reading, it also looks more professional if more then one music star is featured, as from my research a few music stars are involved in issues every month which defiantly makes them more tempting to buy and interesting to read. From my research i also found that most magazines have a column from the editor giving a brief description of whats coming up and whats going to be shown in the magazine, its a good chance to further persuade the reader to purchase the magazine and read on, as im the editor i mentioned 'whats hot' the main articles focused and i spoke in a chatty, friendly but persuasive tone, because its important to be friendly but you want them to support the magazine at the same time. As my music magazine contains 60 pages, including advertisments, competitions and star sign pages, i only included page numbers and articles that would be appealing to readers and they reflect my target audience, pages such as 'o2 arena inside out, how to become a music star, learn dance routines and special giveaways' this will appeal to the younger readers because its articles they would want to read is different compared to other orginal music magazine.

finished front cover

After much planning, editing and researching, the final draft for my music magazine front cover has finally been completed. My main photo was of my boy band 'AVENUE' and the main headlines were focused on them. I also included the bar code, price and date at the very bottom as its the last place that will be looked at and is the least important information, this is known as a 'Z Formation' as i mentioned earlier before. i also kept to my target audience research of having my colour scheme as 'blue, pink and yellow' i still remain happy with my decision and think the colours work well together and stand out and from my research have proven to be different compared to other current music magazines. Iv also used different font size and style depending on the importance and revelance of the text, as the 'avenue interview' is a main topic in my magazine it has larger font and stands out more then 'win tickets to the x factor tour' at the bottom. i have learnt that where the font is placed can be vital because it needs to be angled and positioned correctly, in order for the audience to notice it and be interested enough to look at it and want to read on further from the headlines tempting them. i also have 3 smaller headlines at the side, mentioning 3 different music stars that would add appeal and would reach out to more people. i believe my front cover does look right for my age range of young teenagers, and would appeal with the simple language used, bright colours and a wide selection of different headlines.

Contents Page Photo

This is my second model i will be using for my music magazine, i have created a second music star 'Keisha' and i will include a headline of her on my title page and this photo on my contents page. I believe its important to have 2 music stars as it makes it more real and believeable and will add more appeal to my magazine as a whole. i already have my boy band which is my main music star being featured but i have now added another music artist which i have created to make a interview on and it will add more appeal and will seem more professional and will add a sense of realism about it. I will include a headline about her on the front page and further in the magazine there will be a article focusing on her.

Mock Ups Of my Music Magazine

This is a mock up of my music magazine front cover, its my first plan of what im going to be creating for my first page of my music magazine, iv included a rough copy of where certain things will be placed including the price, barcode and date, where the sell lines will be and where i will be featuring competitions and where the photographs will be and iv planned everything so i just need to add in colour and the correct headings and image. This will make is easier for me and i can create my magazine in a more planned way.

This is my second mock up of my music magazine front cover i have included the font, and the colour and the issue date, with the headlines im going to be using, including the colours which are colours i choose as a colour scheme from my research, iv also made the more important words in bold font and iv included the title 'BUZZ!' which is the title that will be recognised and my target audience will become familaur with this trademark and will buy the magazine when they see the title and interesting head lines iv included.

This is a mock up plan of my contents page i have included basic text boxes of where i am going to include certain headings and where the photos and editors column are going to be placed. This will make the making of my contents page much easier and i will be able to create it alot easier because i have a mock up plan and i just have to fill in the boxes and place what belongs in the boxes.
This is a mock up plan of my double page spread in which im going to be creating a double interview on my boy band 'Avenue' i have placed text boxes where im going to include photos of the band and where the main interview will be, this is a rough plan of what its going to look like and where i need to include the interview text of what im writing. By doing this it gives me a structured plan and makes it more organised and i have a better idea of what im doing and how its going to turn out.

This is my photo plan of my double page spread, i have inserted these images in to the designated places where i want them to be and i will write the main body of the interview around the photos. This gives my magazine a more professional edge and it makes it more appealing and interesting to look at if the text is in a different way and the photos of the boys make it more fun to look at the photoshoot gives it a edge. All i need to do now is place my text around the photos.

Magazine Photos

For preparation of making my music magazine, i thought over different locations and shots i wanted to take of my boy band to use for my music magazine. I looked at various shots of other boybands and looked at current covers of music magazines to inspire me and help me with idea's for mine.

This is one of the shots i took which is of the boys running through a quiet, secretive place through an alley. The shot is clear and the background is a nice scenario with a woodland winter effect, all the boys look happy and as if they are having fun and that theres a real connection between them and they are all getting along well and it shows there having fun by there facial expressions and there open body language as there running away from eachother. It connotes that it is winter because of the cold wintery sky in the background, the frost on the bushes and the fact that all the boys are wearing coats. I like this image, but i dont believe its front cover material so i may consider using it on my contents page to show the boys joking around and being mishevious in there spare time which is what the fans would want to see.

This is another location i choose which is the music room in the music block, it shows the boys in another light and shows there musical side of playing instruments, teaching eachother and bonding. I would crop out the background and would just have the boys teaching eachother playing and the drums. They are all doing different things and it shows them being serious and creative and how Chris Oatis is teaching Luis Murphy and the photo shows him explaining something and Luis's facial expression shows him listening and taking it all in. i would also consider using this photo for my contents page or on the double page spread on the interview as it relates to there music and shows them hard at work and practising there music.

This is a shot i took of the boys all together, laughing and smiling as a group, i think this image shows the cheesy side to the band and the bond they have together. If i was to use this image i would crop out the background and replace it with a plain white setting because all the attention should be payed on the boys faces and how there connected as a group. I would also consider using this on my contents page or double page spread interview because its a good clear image with them all staring straight into the camera and they all look really happy to be together and it shows how close they are as a group.

This is another image i may use for my front page cover shot, the boys look as if they mean buisness, they look serious and fierce and the vibe between them works well with the way they are postioned and there facial expressions. I would crop out the background and just have them sitting on stairs and make an effect on it to make it darker so it connotes with the winter theme and the boys 'vibe' of being scary and fierce with there serious facial expressions. The shot always looks quite professional with the way they are postioned at different heights on the stairs.

This is one on my favourite shots, they are all positioned different and at different heights with them all posing and staring directly into the camera, it shows the band in a more professional way and them in a proper photoshoot. Its in the same forest background with them posing with a gate which i found another band doing in photos i had looked at. The coats and cold weather connotes with the winter edition of the magazine i will be producting and i would put a brighter effect on the image to make it more clearer but i would definatly consider using this as my front cover shot because i feel it would work well with my issue and theme of the magazine and looks professional suitable, with a bit of editing and tweeking i feel it could work really well.

My Flat Plan

This is a copy of my flat plan which i produced to help me prepare for my music magazine,i created 60 pages and headlines which is a basic outline of what will be included in my magazine. i have made pages that will attract different age ranges and will add appeal to my magazine and that are unique and that you wont see in other magazines such as 'learn dance routines' and special pages on certain venues and locations. iv also included photo shoots and poster pullouts that will interest the younger readers that will purchase my magazine. i will include well known music artists and include recent news about them and have fact files and have them answering questions that will make the readers tempted to buy and read on further if theres un read information being exposed. i think the flat plan is important to create because it allows me to see what iv included, what headlines i should include on my front page which will persuade other people to read it. The quiz, competition and special givaways will involve the audience and make them interact with the magazine and involve themselves in what im producing and in includes them in the things im creating and the magazine itself.
